Daylight Savings...

I don't know about all of you out there, but I think there has to be a "Sanity Savings" day, in fact I think we should institute one immediately. Of course, this would probably exclude Daylight Savings Day!
Putting the kids to bed late and having 9 am church would not be included in my Sanity Savings Day, especially when you lose an hour over night. For the first time in 5 years I had to wake Tate up. He is our early bird, but this morning I had to DRAG him out of bed and force feed oatmeal to get the kids to church on time. Shirts were un-tucked, hair disheveled, frowns and tears were in full force (this was from me, not the kids), and McCall only had time to eat once in the hour she was up - not enough for her! So church was an adventure, not one I am willing to do again any time soon.
But it was worth it to watch all the people come late to the meeting, walk in at 9:55 and have utter confusion on their faces. So I might have paid a great price to get to church on time, but was rewarded when I got to laugh at all the confused faces coming in one hour late! Plus sacrament meeting was relatively quiet and empty for our large ward.
Next year...no staying up late + no 9am church + no grumpy kids = Sanity Savings Day!

oh. the worst is when I work the OTHER daylight savings night at the hospital, where you fall back...and I don't realize that I have signed up for that night...and when 2am rolls around...they roll the clocks BACK to 1am....and then I just cry...it's the worst....13 hrs. is long enough...let alone when they turn it into 14. This year I worked the spring ahead shift...I am getting smarter...so I got paid for an extra hour...woohoo!

Um, I was one of those late people today! Ok, so I was only 5 minutes late, but still. I HATE being late!!!

we had almost the same experience yesterday, too. Andrew kept saying all day long, "I hate daylight savings! Why do we even have this holiday?"

I'm with you on this one. It was pretty funny, however, to see the bishop leading the opening hymn.

Here's what we did to kep our sanity with our 4...we sneaked around the house Sat afternoon and bounced all the clocks ahead! The kids all went to be at their "normal" bedtime around 7pm...but it was actually 6 :) So they lost no sleep at all...it was all thanks to the brilliant mind of my hubby! Second year running that it worked...next year my oldest is 11, might get caught next year!!
